The Tippmann Cronus is the least expensive full featured woodsball style Tippmann paintball marker.  (Woodsball style means it has a more tactical look).  The Cronus tactical is full featured without the need for later upgrades.   

Tippmann Parts Staff thoughts: This paintball gun is lightweight and has a smaller pistol style grip that makes it a great choice for younger players with smaller hands.  

Tippmann Cronus upgrades to consider:

You have a top rail to work with that will accept paintball red dot sights.  You can consider switching to a different tippmann 98 style stock.  The Tippmann Cronus uses A5 barrels, but note that most do not fit inside the shroud.  You would need to remove the shroud to use them.

Other guns to consider:

If you don't need the stock, shroud, and sight handle (or you want to customize with other aftermarket parts) you might consider the basic Tippmann Cronus. It will save you a few dollars.  If you want a gun that is more tactical looking, the Tippmann Stormer markers are basically the same inside, with a different external look. 

Q: Will this marker be upgrade able with etrigger, response trigger, or cyclone feed?
A: It will not accept any current etriggers, response triggers, or cyclone feeds. Oct '13

Q: Can I add different stocks other than the Cronus stock?
A: Yes, the Alpha Black compatible stocks work. The Cronus has a stock adapter the same as the Alpha Black.

Q: My question is how light will this gun be. I want to buy one with the tactical package and field it, and that will be so sweet!
A: The Alpha Black (with no stock, but including fore shroud) weighs 4 pound 2 ounces. The Cronus with no stock or shroud weights 2 pounds 12 ounces. Much lighter.
