US Army Project Salvo Upgrades Buying Guide
Barrels for the Project Salvo
-
The project salvo can be used with any Tippmann 98 Custom barrel, however it is important to note, that in order to use your shroud the barrel must not be over 1 inch in diameter, and must be at least 8 inches in length. For 98 Custom barrels click here.
Triggers - One of the biggest upgrades you can get for the project salvo is a trigger upgrade. The triggers will instantly increase the rate at which your Salvo can shoot.
-
Response Trigger – A Response trigger is still a mechanical, semi-auto trigger, that will shoot as fast as you can pull it. However you're going to get some assistance in the trigger pull. Some of the air from each shot is re-directed to a small piston behind the trigger shoe. This piston kicks the trigger back in to a ready firing position after each shot. What this does is it resets the trigger, for the next trigger pull, even before you've let your finger off of the trigger from firing your previous shot. Now follow this . . . If the trigger returns to a ready firing position before you've let off the trigger, you're still pulling on the trigger, then won't you shoot again? YES! There is a sweet spot in the Response triggers. When you pull at a consistent pressure that is strong enough to fire the gun, and weak enough to keep the RT from kicking the trigger back to ready, then you'll effectively be able to shoot in bursts or even full auto with a mechanical semi-auto gun. Now this does take practice but it's not hard to figure out. After a couple of times out with your gun you'll get the hang of it and easily be able to shoot 5 to 15 balls per second.
-
E-Trigger - The E stands for Electronic. The E-grips use an electronic micro switch solenoid to fire the gun instead of a mechanical trigger. This gives you very short, smooth, and light trigger pull making your Salvo very easy to shoot quickly. Five firing modes with up to 17 ball-per-second capability. Uses commonly found 9-volt batteries.
Cyclone Feed System & Feed Necks
-
The cyclone feed is a great way to have a more consistent feed to your Project Salvo. This is the same system used on the Tippmann A-5 markers. It uses some of the extra gas after each shot you fire, to turn the paddles on the inside of the system, which in turn feeds one ball into the breach. This means there will always be one ball in the breach ready to fire, so no more shaking the gravity feed to unclog the loader. If somehow the loader does manage to get jammed, there is a thumb push piston that will un-jam the loader.
-
If you prefer to run an electronic hopper, or even a gravity hopper a feed neck upgrade should be looked into. These feednecks have a better clamping system then their stock counterparts. This will mean your loader won't go flying during your next epic slide. Some feednecks are also 100% aluminium, making them much more durable.
Bolt Upgrades
-
A big portion of internal upgrades avaliable for the Salvo are bolt upgrades. Bolt upgrades range in purpose, the ACT bolt upgrade kit is designed to reduce unwanting internal ball breaks. Upgraded front bolts are usually intended to be self lubricating, and cut down on the drag of the front bolt. Most other rear bolt upgrades, are intended to cut down the weight of the bolt, as the stock Salvo rear bolt is pretty heavy.
Tactical Upgrades
-
Since the Project Salvo features four picatinny rails on the shroud as well as one on the top of the Salvo, this gun is made to be customized with tactical upgrades. Any tactical attachments that use a picatinny rail system, and most that are weaver mount can be quickly attached to your Project Salvo. For more on tactical upgrades click here.
